Bacharach IV (18 Aug 10)

Photobucket
It's common to find most houses along Rhine are decorated with painting and drawing.

Photobucket

Saint Peter is one of the main church in Bacharach. When I first saw this building, I never thought it could be a property from 12th century! It still looks new!

Werner Chapel is an unfinished Gothic church. Although the project has been abandoned, the uncompleted church has now become one of the attractions in Bacharach.

Bacharach II (18 Aug 10)

After visiting Burg Stahleck, we continued our journey to explore the lovely town of Bacharach. One of the things that visitors shouldn't miss in this small town is the traditional timber-frame house. Some of these houses were built since centuries ago and with proper maintenance they still look new. Today, these houses are served as one of the tourist attractions in the town.

Most houses in Bacharach were covered with grape trees, they grown every where in the town, crawling across the roofs. That's the reason why Bacharach is so unique! We picked a few grapes from these trees just wanted to find out whether they are sweet. Too bad, they were horribly sour!

Hubby and I really love Bacharach! This town is really awesome!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Bacharach I (18 Aug 10)

Freidrich Wilhelm IV

We took about 30 minutes to drive from Sankt Goar to Bacharach. Although Bacharach is just a small town, it is one of the prettiest town along Rhine. Among all places that we have been in Germany, hubby loves Bacharach the most. What hubby said about this place is true: it's unique, lovely, beautiful and classic. He really fall for Bacharach.

One of the most popular attractions in Bacharach is Burg Stahleck. Burg Stahleck was built in 1135 but suffered a turbulent history and was destroyed by France troops years later. This castle was then bought over by
Freidrich Wilhelm IV who was a Prussian. However, he somehow sold the place later. Until 1926, Burg Stahleck changed to become a youth hostel and it is still functioning as a youth hostel today. I believe this is the most unique and beautiful youth hostel in the entire Europe, no! I should say the best in the whole world! For those who are interested to experience a romantic, classic, spooky and adventures stay, you may consider to book a room and spend your night here. The castle is opened to the public but limited only to the court yard.
