We took Metro to Monastiraki Station again on the same night. Monastiraki Square is always crowded with people in the day time, and even at night. Monastiraki Square is located next to Monastiraki Station.
Monastiraki is always a busy town. It’s busy in the morning due to the local flea market; at night this place turns to be a food paradise. Furthermore, Acropolis is just nearby. Here you could find plenty of restaurants serving authentic Greek food. Almost all restaurants serve the same menu, most are grilled food. If you want to try something different, try to look for restaurant at Plaka. Plaka is well known for its night life.

This is Monastiraki Square. It’s quite safe to take a slow walk at here after night falls.

These are the restaurants located next to Monastiraki Square. Most restaurant owners and waiters are very warmth and friendly. Just take your time to browse through the entire menus placed along the walkway, and decide what to have for dinner later. They are happy to go through the menu thoroughly with you. We went to the first restaurant on the right for twice! They served the most juicy and tasty beef souvlaki!
We passed by the restaurants and continued walking to Acropolis. Unfortunately Acropolis was closed after 7pm, so we managed to see only a few historical monuments around the area, such like Hadrian’s Library and Roman Agora (both are located downhill). We also went half way up to the hill to enjoy the night view of Athens. The night scenery of Athens was absolutely gorgeous! Too bad we didn’t bring tripod with us, or we could snap more pictures on that night.

The building on the left is Hadrian’s Library. On the far right (the brightest area on top of the hill) is Acropolis. You could always see Acropolis from far, as far as from Syntagma Square.

This is the Gate of Athena Archegetis, located at Roman Agora.
We spent all the energy walking up to the hill. By the time we went down, we were starving. We went back to one of the restaurants next to Monastiraki Square, and decided to have our first authentic Greek dinner there.

Restaurants beside Monastiraki Square.

Waiting for dinner impatiently…

This is one of the authentic Greek food – Moussaka. It tasted like lasagna. Baked with minced beef, special made cream and pasta.

This is another authentic Greek food – Souvalaki (pronounce as Sou-La-Gy/Gi). It is served with beef kebab, a Pita bread at the bottom, some sweet tomatos and freshly sliced onions. It tasted super good! The beef was so juicy and sweet! Although I don’t really fancy beef, I love beef kebab from this restaurants!! Miss it!
Can you see it too, some Greek ghosts in the 5th pic?
